Atlanta, Georgia – Afternoon thunderstorms will develop daily across North and Central Georgia this week as warm, humid conditions settle in, with highs climbing into the 90s and lows staying in the 60s to low 70s.

According to the National Weather Service in Peachtree City, scattered to numerous thunderstorms are likely each afternoon and early evening through Thursday, especially in areas like Atlanta, Macon, and Athens. Temperatures will remain seasonably warm, with highs between 75°F and 93°F depending on elevation and cloud cover. The risk for heavy rain, gusty winds, and brief lightning strikes will peak from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. each day.

Central Georgia, including Bibb, Houston, and Peach counties, may see higher rain coverage midweek. Mountain areas will be slightly cooler but still humid. Commuters should plan for sudden downpours and slick roads, particularly along I-75, I-85, and I-20. Outdoor events and fireworks preparations for the July 4th holiday could be disrupted if storms persist into the evening hours.

Residents are urged to monitor radar and stay weather-aware during peak storm hours. Additional advisories may be issued if severe weather develops.
