Atlanta, GA — Georgia is under a critical fire weather warning this Saturday as low humidity, gusty winds, and dry conditions threaten to spark fast-spreading wildfires across North and East Georgia.

According to the National Weather Service in Peachtree City, the Red Flag Warning remains in effect until 8 p.m. Saturday. The warning impacts key areas including the Chattahoochee and Oconee National Forests, with elevated fire danger across Metro Atlanta and counties along I-75 and I-20 corridors. Winds from the west at 10 to 15 mph, gusting up to 30 mph, combined with humidity levels between 20% and 25%, create ideal conditions for rapid fire spread. Outdoor burning is strongly discouraged.

Today’s temperatures will climb into the low 70s with sunny skies, giving a false sense of calm. Officials advise residents to avoid using outdoor grills, fire pits, or any open flames.

Looking ahead, Sunday brings another dry, warm day with highs near 76°F, followed by increasing clouds and a 70% chance of showers Sunday night. Rain continues into Monday, with a 60% chance of showers and a high around 70°F. Tuesday through Thursday looks clear and seasonable, with highs in the upper 60s to low 70s.

Spring has arrived, but fire hazards remain high until moisture returns early next week. Residents should stay weather-aware and monitor local burn regulations.

Stay tuned to NWS alerts and avoid unnecessary outdoor burning today. Conditions may improve after Sunday night’s rain.
