Atlanta, GA – High fire danger conditions are in effect across North and Central Georgia today as dry, windy weather creates an increased wildfire risk. The National Weather Service warns that relative humidity levels will drop to 25% or lower from noon to 7 p.m., with winds out of the north to northwest at 5 to 10 mph.
According to the National Weather Service in Peachtree City, these conditions create a heightened risk for wildfires, particularly in areas with dry vegetation. Officials urge residents to avoid outdoor burning and to exercise extreme caution with any open flames or flammable materials.
The dry pattern will continue into Thursday, with mostly sunny skies and a high of 68°F. A slight chance of showers is expected late Thursday afternoon but will not provide significant relief. Winds could gust up to 20 mph.
Friday will bring another dry, sunny day with highs in the mid-60s, followed by a warming trend on Saturday, reaching 68°F. By Sunday, temperatures will dip slightly to a high of 57°F, with partly cloudy skies.
Fire officials recommend securing outdoor debris and monitoring local burn restrictions. Residents should report any signs of smoke or fire to local authorities immediately.
