Peachtree City, GA – Triple-digit heat could slam metro Atlanta by midweek, with temperatures feeling as high as 107° on Wednesday afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service in Peachtree City, a Heat Advisory remains in effect from 1 p.m. Tuesday through 8 p.m. Wednesday, covering most of central, north, and west Georgia. Areas along I-75, I-285, and U.S. 78 should prepare for peak heat between 2–6 p.m. Wednesday.

Residents from Peachtree City to Athens and as far north as Dalton are urged to stay indoors, avoid strenuous outdoor activity, and check on elderly neighbors. High humidity levels will significantly increase the risk of heat-related illnesses, especially for those without air conditioning.

Wednesday’s high in Atlanta is expected to reach 96°, with “feels-like” values near 107°. Wind remains light, offering little relief. Showers and thunderstorms could develop late afternoon, but aren’t expected to cool things significantly.

The advisory spans dozens of counties including Fulton, DeKalb, Cobb, Bibb, and Muscogee. Many cities, including Rome, Macon, and Lawrenceville, will see similar sweltering conditions.

Stay hydrated, limit outdoor time, and never leave children or pets in vehicles.

More storms and slightly cooler air return later this week — but relief will be gradual.
