Peachtree City, GA – A heat advisory has been reissued for central, east central, and west central Georgia as forecasters warn of dangerously high temperatures expected to return Tuesday.
According to the National Weather Service in Peachtree City, the advisory remains in effect from noon to 8 p.m. Tuesday, with heat index values forecast to exceed 105 degrees. The affected areas include key cities such as Macon, Columbus, Warner Robins, Milledgeville, Vidalia, Americus, and numerous surrounding communities.
Meteorologists said the combination of hot temperatures and high humidity could lead to an increased risk of heat-related illnesses. Local residents are advised to take necessary precautions, such as drinking plenty of fluids, staying indoors in air-conditioned spaces, avoiding direct sunlight, and checking on elderly neighbors or relatives throughout the day.
The weather service warns that vulnerable populations—including children, seniors, and those with chronic health conditions—should exercise extra caution as the heat index climbs in the afternoon hours. While Monday’s advisory has expired, officials emphasize that heat-related risks will continue into Tuesday as a persistent heatwave affects much of the region.
According to the National Weather Service, the advisory covers the following counties: Butts, Jasper, Putnam, Hancock, Monroe, Jones, Baldwin, Washington, Glascock, Jefferson, Crawford, Bibb, Twiggs, Wilkinson, Johnson, Emanuel, Peach, Houston, Bleckley, Laurens, Treutlen, Pulaski, Dodge, Telfair, Wheeler, Montgomery, Toombs, Upson, Lamar, Talbot, Taylor, Muscogee, Chattahoochee, Marion, Schley, Macon, Stewart, Webster, Sumter, Dooly, Crisp, and Wilcox.
