Atlanta, GA – A frost advisory has been issued for much of Georgia, with temperatures expected to drop as low as 33 degrees overnight. The advisory will be in effect from 11 p.m. Thursday until 9 a.m. Friday, impacting central, east central, north central, northeast, and west central parts of the state.
According to the National Weather Service in Peachtree City, areas including Atlanta, Macon, Athens, and Warner Robins will experience frost formation, potentially damaging sensitive outdoor vegetation. Residents are advised to take precautions to protect tender plants, which could be harmed or killed if left uncovered.
In addition to the frost advisory, a freeze warning remains in effect for portions of north central and northwest Georgia until 10 a.m. Thursday. Cities such as Marietta, Cumming, and Peachtree City could see temperatures as low as 21 degrees, significantly increasing the risk of damage to crops and outdoor plants.
Further east, the National Weather Service in Charleston has also issued a frost advisory for parts of southeastern Georgia and South Carolina, including Statesboro, Sylvania, and Summerville. This advisory will be active from 1 a.m. to 8 a.m. Friday.
Residents across affected areas are encouraged to take necessary precautions, including covering plants, bringing pets indoors, and ensuring outdoor water pipes are protected from freezing conditions.
