Peachtree City, GA – Fog has reduced visibility to less than a quarter of a mile this morning across much of north and central Georgia, prompting a special weather statement from the National Weather Service. Drivers are advised to exercise caution until conditions improve after 10 a.m.
According to the National Weather Service, the dense fog is primarily affecting areas including Dade, Walker, Catoosa, Whitfield, and many others in the northern and central regions. The fog is expected to lift by late morning, but until then, visibility will remain significantly impaired, especially on highways and local roads.
Commuters should slow down, use low-beam headlights, and increase the following distance from other vehicles to enhance safety. Roads such as I-75, I-85, and US-19 are expected to see the most noticeable impacts, and visibility will remain limited in rural areas as well.
This fog is expected to dissipate by mid-morning, but motorists should remain cautious, especially in areas where it may linger longer. There are no current reports of significant accidents, but conditions could change quickly, so it’s essential to stay alert.
