ATLANTA, Ga. – Labor Day travelers in Georgia will wake to cooler air Monday morning as sunshine stretches across the state. Temperatures will climb into the low 80s, making for one of the most comfortable holiday starts in recent weeks. Drivers should still remain cautious, with heavier-than-normal traffic expected along I-75 and I-285 throughout the day.

According to the National Weather Service in Peachtree City, Monday will stay mostly sunny with highs near 82 degrees. Winds from the east at 5 to 10 mph could gust up to 15 mph. That light breeze will add to the refreshing feel but also may impact small craft on area lakes.

Tuesday brings another pleasant day, holding in the low 80s under mostly sunny skies. By Wednesday, however, storm chances return. The weather service notes a 20 percent chance of thunderstorms Wednesday afternoon, increasing into Wednesday night. Rain could lead to slick conditions for commuters heading into Midtown Atlanta and surrounding suburbs.

Travelers returning home after the holiday should keep a close eye on the forecast, especially if driving along I-20 or I-75. Storms could disrupt evening rush hours and cause flight delays at Hartsfield-Jackson.

Residents are encouraged to enjoy the cooler holiday air but remain prepared for changing conditions midweek. Charge devices, allow extra drive time, and monitor local updates as September begins.

Warnings remain possible through Wednesday night if storms intensify.
