Atlanta, GA – Temperatures across Georgia are expected to climb sharply late this week, with highs nearing 90°F in Macon and Atlanta by Saturday afternoon as a strong high-pressure system takes hold.
According to the National Weather Service in Peachtree City, a cold front moving through overnight Monday will bring a temporary cool down Tuesday and Wednesday, with daytime highs dropping into the upper 60s and low 70s. However, the cooldown will be brief, with a steady warming trend starting Thursday and continuing through the weekend.
By Saturday, forecast highs in Macon and Atlanta are projected to reach 89°F and 88°F respectively, with some areas in south-central Georgia potentially topping 90°F. That’s 10–15 degrees above average for mid-April, prompting heat advisories for outdoor workers, vulnerable populations, and weekend event organizers.
Residents should take precautions to stay hydrated, limit outdoor activity during peak afternoon hours, and check in on older neighbors. With low chances of rain and ample sun, heat-related stress may become a concern, especially in urban zones like downtown Atlanta.
The warming trend is expected to persist through at least Sunday, with cooler conditions possibly returning early next week.
