Atlanta, Ga. – Warm temperatures near 85°F are holding across Georgia this weekend, but isolated thunderstorms could develop in the northeast part of the state by this evening, creating brief travel disruptions.
According to the National Weather Service in Peachtree City, a 10 to 20 percent chance of storms will focus on far northeast Georgia through the evening hours, while most of north and central Georgia stays dry and partly cloudy. Cities like Gainesville, Clayton, and Blairsville face the highest risk for lightning and brief downpours before midnight.
Atlanta, Macon, and Columbus will remain warm and mostly sunny through Sunday, with highs ranging from 81 to 87°F. The bigger shift begins early Tuesday, when a round of showers moves in, dropping daytime highs into the 60s and low 70s across much of the state. Wet roads during the morning commute could slow traffic along I-75, I-85, and I-20.
Residents should stay alert for brief storms in northeast Georgia tonight and prepare for a cooler, cloudier pattern by Tuesday morning. Additional updates are likely as rain chances increase into midweek.
