The National Weather Service’s Storm Prediction Center issued the alert for areas including Appling, Atkinson, Bacon, and several others.
According to the NWS, residents in the affected counties should prepare for the potential of severe thunderstorms capable of producing tornadoes. The watch covers key counties in southern and eastern Georgia, impacting cities such as Savannah, Valdosta, and Statesboro.
