According to the National Weather Service in Peachtree City, showers and thunderstorms are likely Tuesday between 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. for Atlanta and surrounding counties, including DeKalb, Fulton, and Gwinnett. Some storms may bring wind gusts over 30 mph, frequent lightning, and localized heavy rainfall. Drivers on I-75 and I-285 should be especially cautious during the evening commute.

Scattered thunderstorms will remain a daily possibility through Friday, before conditions clear in time for holiday festivities. Afternoon highs will range from the upper 80s to low 90s through Thursday, with muggy conditions continuing each night.
