Macon, GA – A woman is dead and a man is in critical condition after a Tuesday evening shooting outside a Family Dollar on Jeffersonville Road, and authorities are asking for the public’s help in locating a suspect.

According to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a 4:40 p.m. call reporting that a male and female had been shot in the parking lot of the business. Investigators said they found a 56-year-old woman unresponsive inside a Nissan Rogue with gunshot wounds. Bibb County Chief Deputy Coroner Lonnie Miley pronounced her dead at the scene. A 79-year-old man was also discovered in the vehicle suffering from a gunshot injury and was transported to a hospital. He remains in critical condition.

Witnesses told deputies the shooting may have stemmed from a prior motor vehicle collision. Investigators are still working to determine the exact events leading up to the gunfire.

Sheriff’s officials identified the suspect as 43-year-old Catrell Tywan Ford, described as a Black male, bald, about 6 feet tall, and weighing around 190 pounds. Ford was last seen near Lancing Lane. Authorities warned he should be considered armed and dangerous.
