Flowery Branch, GA – A man allegedly shot and killed a Gainesville woman at her Flowery Branch home Saturday afternoon before taking his own life, according to the Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO). A nine-year-old child who was inside the home during the shooting was found physically unharmed.

According to HCSO, deputies responded to the 5400 block of Bushnell Court just before 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, 2025. When they arrived, they found the 50-year-old woman dead near the front door and later located the 51-year-old gunman’s body in the basement. Officials said the child was hiding in an upstairs bedroom closet at the time of the incident.

Investigators confirmed the child witnessed the shooting and managed to contact a friend via FaceTime, who then alerted her parents. The friend’s parents immediately called 911.

Authorities said the woman was shot multiple times, while the man died from what appeared to be a single self-inflicted gunshot wound. The sheriff’s office is withholding the identities of those involved pending notification of out-of-state next of kin.

The Department of Family and Children’s Services (DFCS) was called to assist with the child’s care. She has since been placed with a relative, according to officials.
