Peachtree City, GA – A Freeze Warning remains in effect for portions of north and west Georgia from 2 a.m. to 10 a.m. Friday, with temperatures expected to plummet as low as 21°F.

According to the National Weather Service in Peachtree City, the warning covers several counties, including Dade, Walker, Catoosa, Whitfield, Murray, Fannin, Gilmer, Union, Towns, Chattooga, Gordon, Pickens, Dawson, Lumpkin, White, Floyd, Bartow, Cherokee, Polk, Paulding, Cobb, Haralson, Carroll, Douglas, and Heard. Cities such as Marietta, Rome, Cartersville, Dalton, and Blairsville will experience the brunt of the cold snap.

The unseasonably cold temperatures pose a risk to crops, sensitive vegetation, and unprotected outdoor plumbing. Residents are urged to cover plants, insulate exposed pipes, and bring pets indoors to mitigate potential damage.

Although Georgia has seen fluctuating temperatures in March, this freeze event is expected to be one of the coldest of the season. The NWS advises that frost and freeze conditions could be widespread, particularly in lower-lying areas and rural communities.

Those in the affected regions should take necessary precautions Thursday night to protect property and vegetation before temperatures drop overnight.
