Atlanta, Ga. – Sunshine dominates midweek, but Georgia residents should brace for stormier conditions as Labor Day weekend approaches. Wednesday brings warm, dry weather to metro Atlanta, yet the National Weather Service warns of increasing rain chances by Friday. Travelers on I-75 and surrounding highways should prepare for slower traffic and potential delays as showers and thunderstorms move in.

According to the National Weather Service in Peachtree City, Wednesday will be sunny with highs near 83 degrees. Winds from the northwest will ease into calm conditions overnight. Thursday stays partly sunny, but by Thursday night, rain chances climb to 50 percent, marking the first round of unsettled weather before the holiday rush.

Friday carries a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, with rain most likely before 2 p.m. Commuters and holiday travelers should watch for slick roads, especially across Fulton, DeKalb, and Clayton counties. Friday night stays mostly cloudy, with lingering showers possible.

Saturday brings a higher chance of rain, with scattered thunderstorms expected after 2 p.m. Outdoor gatherings may face interruptions, and residents are urged to secure tents, grills, and equipment ahead of storms. Sunday and Labor Day Monday both hold a 30 percent chance of showers, keeping plans for cookouts and festivals at risk.

By Tuesday, conditions remain unsettled, but rain coverage should gradually decrease.

Warnings remain in place through the weekend, and more advisories may follow as rainfall totals become clearer.
