Atlanta, Ga. – A surge of early-season heat is set to expand across Georgia and Florida, pushing temperatures well above normal and creating summerlike conditions during the peak spring break travel window.

According to the National Weather Service Climate Prediction Center, both states will experience temperatures running 30 to 50 percent above normal from March 24 through March 30. Precipitation trends remain near normal, but Florida will see a higher chance of passing showers compared to drier conditions in Georgia.

Across Atlanta, Savannah, Orlando, Tampa, and Miami, daytime highs are expected to climb into the upper 70s and 80s, with some inland areas pushing the mid-80s. Major travel corridors including I-75, I-85, I-95, and Florida’s Turnpike are expected to remain mostly dry, though brief showers in Florida could reduce visibility below two miles at times.

Drivers should prepare for heat-related fatigue on longer trips and stay hydrated, especially during peak afternoon warmth. In Florida, watch for quick-moving showers that can create slick roads with little notice.

For baseball fans across the region, including those following the Braves and Marlins, the opening stretch of the season will feel more like early summer, with light clothing recommended.

This warm pattern holds through late March, with isolated showers continuing in Florida and minimal changes expected elsewhere.
