Tallahassee, Florida – Strong to severe thunderstorms are set to impact south-central Georgia and Florida’s Big Bend region this afternoon and evening, raising concerns for damaging winds and possible hail across several counties.

According to the National Weather Service in Tallahassee, a Marginal Risk (Level 1 of 5) for severe weather is in effect through tonight. The greatest threats are isolated wind gusts over 40 mph and the potential for small to medium-sized hail. Counties including Leon, Gadsden, Bainbridge, Thomas, and Valdosta could see the most intense activity during peak travel hours.

Motorists should prepare for sudden heavy downpours and quickly changing conditions on highways like I-10, US-27, and US-319. Residents are urged to secure outdoor objects and keep mobile phones charged in case of brief outages. The NWS advises having multiple ways to receive warnings as storms may quickly intensify.

Warnings remain possible until late Monday evening as storms move southeast. Stay tuned to local alerts for any changes or upgrades in risk level.
