Peachtree City, GA – Residents in Georgia are bracing for potential flooding today as heavy rain is expected along and south of Interstate 85. Rainfall rates may exceed one inch per hour, causing hazardous driving conditions during the evening commute.

According to the National Weather Service in Peachtree City, the greatest risk for flooding will occur between noon and 8 p.m. Areas near the I-85 corridor are particularly vulnerable to flash flooding. Travelers are urged to exercise caution and allow extra travel time as standing water could lead to dangerous road conditions.

A band of rain and thunderstorms will move through the region, bringing widespread totals of two to three inches, with localized amounts up to five inches possible. Gusty winds may also accompany these storms, creating additional challenges for drivers. Low-lying areas, small creeks, and urban zones are at the highest risk of rapid flooding.

Beyond today’s rainfall, the weather is expected to improve. Wednesday will bring clearing skies and cooler temperatures, with highs near 53°F and overnight lows around 30°F. Sunny conditions will persist through Thursday, with highs in the upper 40s. By Friday, temperatures will moderate slightly, reaching 52°F under partly cloudy skies.

Residents are advised to monitor local weather updates, avoid driving through flooded roads, and secure outdoor items vulnerable to strong winds.
