ATLANTA, Ga. – A warm, sunny stretch continues across north Georgia, but fall thunderstorm chances return by Sunday afternoon, potentially impacting outdoor plans and travel on major routes like I-75 and I-20. After several days of near-perfect fall conditions, this weekend’s weather brings a brief change before dry air returns early next week.

According to the National Weather Service in Peachtree City, Thursday and Friday will stay clear and mild, with highs near 80°F and light winds. By Saturday, temperatures rise slightly, topping out around 82°F under mostly sunny skies—excellent for festivals, football tailgates, and pumpkin patch visits around metro Atlanta and north Fulton County.

Clouds will thicken Sunday as a weak front moves in from the west. Showers and a few isolated thunderstorms may develop after 2 p.m., with gusty winds and brief downpours possible. Rain coverage could reach 50% by evening, making wet roads a concern for late-day drivers on I-285 and Georgia Highway 400. While widespread severe weather is not expected, lightning and ponding on roads could briefly disrupt outdoor events and travel.

Residents should secure lightweight decorations before the weekend winds pick up and plan to move outdoor activities indoors by Sunday afternoon. The good news: the system clears quickly, setting up a sunny, dry start to next week with cooler, comfortable fall air returning by Monday.
