Georgia Faces High Fire Risk and Thunderstorms Through Midweek

ATLANTA, GA – A mix of dry conditions and strong storms will create an active weather pattern across Georgia through midweek. A Fire Danger Statement remains in effect for all of north and central Georgia through Monday evening, with low humidity and dry fuels increasing wildfire risks. By Tuesday night, a cold front will bring thunderstorms, some with gusty winds.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Peachtree Cityrelative humidity levels could drop below 25% Monday afternoon and evening, maintaining high fire danger conditions. Residents should avoid outdoor burningand check with local authorities before any fire-related activities.

By Tuesday, winds will shift to the southeast at 15-20 mph, with gusts up to 30 mph. Showers will develop early, followed by stronger storms between 1 a.m. and 4 a.m. Wednesday. Some thunderstorms may bring damaging winds and heavy rainfall, impacting morning commutes.
