According to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, deputies initiated the stop on December 4, 2025, after witnessing a vehicle fail to stop at a stop sign and illegally pass another driver while traveling on a double yellow line along Johnstonville Road. Deputies reported detecting the odor of marijuana upon approaching the vehicle, prompting a search.
Inside, deputies allegedly found marijuana, approximately 48 grams of methamphetamine, and a Smith & Wesson handgun. The occupants were identified by law enforcement as Skylar Formby, 32, of Decatur, Georgia, and Nickolas Hollinsworth, 32, of Griffin, Georgia.
According to the sheriff’s office, Formby was charged with Failure to Stop at a Stop Sign, Passing on a Double Yellow Line, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, Possession of Less Than an Ounce of Marijuana, and Trafficking Methamphetamine. Hollinsworth was charged with Possession of Less Than an Ounce of Marijuana and Trafficking Methamphetamine.
Authorities said both suspects are being held at the Monroe County Jail without bond.
The investigation remains ongoing. Deputies did not report any injuries or additional contraband found at the scene.
