Lake Geneva, WI – A Beloit man was arrested in the Town of Geneva after allegedly attempting to meet a 14-year-old girl he had contacted online, police said.
According to the Town of Geneva Police Department, officers were alerted at 7 a.m. on March 20, 2025, to an adult male allegedly sending inappropriate messages and photos to a person he believed to be a 14-year-old female via Facebook Messenger. The suspect, identified as 33-year-old Cody A. Hubanks, allegedly arranged to meet the girl in person.
Hubanks traveled from Beloit to Geneva and was stopped by officers before the planned meeting occurred. He was taken into custody without incident during a traffic stop and later confined at the Walworth County Jail.
The case has been referred to the Walworth County District Attorney’s Office. Hubanks faces charges of allegedly using a computer to facilitate a child sex crime and causing a child under 13 to view or listen to sexual activity.
Authorities reminded the public that all suspects are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
