Cleveland, OH – A Lake Effect Snow Warning remains in effect today for portions of northeast Ohio and northwest Pennsylvania, where heavy snow and blowing winds are expected to create dangerous travel conditions through Friday night, according to the National Weather Service in Cleveland.

The warning includes Cuyahoga, Geauga, Ashtabula Inland, Portage, Trumbull, Southern Erie, and Crawford counties, where additional accumulations of 2 to 5 inches are likely. Higher totals are expected across eastern Cuyahoga County, southern Geauga County, and parts of northern Crawford County, PA, where snow bands are most persistent.

Forecasters warn of reduced visibility, slippery roads, and patchy blowing snow as winds gust up to 40 mph. Snowfall rates could reach 1 inch per hour early Friday before tapering into the evening.

The storm could significantly affect Thanksgiving holiday travel, particularly along Interstates 90 and 80, and through corridors east of Cleveland and Erie. Drivers are urged to delay travel if possible, keep emergency supplies in vehicles, and check ohgo.com and 511pa.com for the latest road conditions.

Officials caution that travel could remain hazardous through late Friday evening, especially in lake-effect snow belts stretching from Cleveland to Meadville.
