Gaylord, Mich. – Cool nights and scattered storms will shape Northern Michigan’s weekend weather, with Saturday bringing the highest chance for showers and possible thunderstorms.
According to the National Weather Service in Gaylord, dry and mostly sunny conditions are expected Friday and Sunday, while Saturday’s forecast includes scattered showers across the region. Highs will range from 72 to 82 degrees through Sunday, with overnight lows dipping into the low 50s in some inland areas.
Along Lake Huron and Lake Michigan beaches, swim risk remains low through the weekend. Waves are expected to stay under 2 feet, but beachgoers should stay alert for fast-changing conditions, especially on Saturday during storm activity.
Scattered storms could affect travel on US-131 and M-32 during peak Saturday hours. Campers and boaters should prepare for possible lightning and brief heavy downpours inland and along the lakeshores from Petoskey to Alpena.
The weekend will close with drier, cooler air on Sunday, making it more favorable for outdoor plans.
More updates may be issued if storm timing shifts or rainfall totals increase.
