Gaylord, MI – A mix of rain and snow showers will linger across parts of northern Michigan today, especially in Chippewa County and the eastern Upper Peninsula, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Gaylord.
According to NWS forecasters, highs today will range from the low 40s to upper 40s across the region. Cloud cover is expected to gradually decrease in northern Lower Michigan, offering pockets of clearing by late afternoon. Conditions will briefly improve Friday, which looks partly sunny and quiet with highs in the mid-40s to mid-50s.
The lull will be short-lived. Forecasters say rain showers return Saturday, accompanied by milder temperatures that could reach the low to upper 50s in some communities. While the system does not appear particularly strong, it will bring widespread light rainfall through much of the day.
A more significant change arrives Sunday as colder air sweeps into northern Michigan. Highs will fall into the mid-30s to mid-40s, and snow showers are likely—especially in typical lake-effect areas and higher terrain. Light accumulations are possible, though NWS has not indicated any major impacts at this time.
Early next week begins colder but quieter, with temperatures settling near seasonal norms for mid-November.
Residents across northern Michigan and the eastern U.P. may want to plan outdoor errands for Friday or early Saturday before colder, more unsettled conditions return.
