According to the US National Weather Service in Gaylord, dry conditions will persist through Saturday night, but rain chances rise sharply late Sunday. Scattered showers and thunderstorms are likely to develop in the evening hours and persist through Sunday night, with potential for heavy rain and a few strong storms.

Cities including Traverse City, Alpena, and Petoskey could see rain totals over an inch in localized areas, with brief wind gusts and minor flooding possible on low-lying roads. Highs on Sunday will range from 82–92°F, adding fuel to the storms. The most active weather is expected between 6 p.m. and midnight.
