Gaylord, Michigan – Light snow showers will continue across northern Michigan today, with accumulations expected to remain under one inch along the US-131 corridor.
According to the National Weather Service in Gaylord, mostly cloudy skies and scattered light snow will persist through the day, with highs ranging from 25 to 31 degrees across much of the region.
Snowfall totals are forecast to stay below one inch, limiting widespread impacts. However, brief reductions in visibility and light accumulations on untreated roads are possible, especially during heavier bursts.
Drivers along Interstate 75 from Grayling to the Mackinac Bridge, US-131 near Gaylord, US-31 through Traverse City and Petoskey, and US-23 near Alpena should remain alert for slick spots, particularly during the morning and evening commute.
Conditions improve Thursday as drier weather returns. Highs Thursday will range from 23 to 31 degrees before a gradual warming trend develops heading into the weekend.
By Friday and Saturday, temperatures are forecast to climb into the mid-30s to low 40s, with Sunday reaching between 36 and 42 degrees under partly cloudy skies.
The extended break in precipitation will provide improved travel conditions through the weekend.
Commuters, school transportation officials, and delivery drivers should allow for minor slowdowns today but can expect improving conditions later this week.
