Gaylord, Michigan – Northern Michigan will see a brief stretch of quieter and milder weather Monday before a more active and colder pattern returns through the middle and latter part of the week.
According to the National Weather Service in Gaylord, a few light snow showers may pass across eastern Upper Michigan overnight, mainly north of the Mackinac Bridge. In and around Gaylord, conditions are expected to remain mostly cloudy, with overnight lows ranging from 18 to 28 degrees. Any snowfall tonight is expected to be light, with little to no accumulation.
Conditions improve on Monday, as weather turns relatively mild and calm for this time of year. High temperatures are forecast to reach 30 to 36 degrees, with mostly cloudy skies and limited precipitation.
Changes arrive beginning Tuesday, when a more active system moves across the Great Lakes region. Forecasters expect light mixed precipitation, including rain and snow, with highs between 34 and 39 degrees. A similar pattern may linger into Wednesday, when mixed precipitation remains possible and temperatures vary widely, ranging from the mid-teens to mid-30s, depending on location and timing.
By Thursday and Friday, colder air firmly settles back into northern Michigan. High temperatures are expected to drop to the low teens to low 20s Thursday, with scattered snow showers possible again on Friday, when highs recover slightly into the upper teens to upper 20s.
While no significant winter weather advisories are currently in effect, the shifting conditions could impact commuters, students, and anyone with midweek travel plans, especially during periods of mixed precipitation and falling temperatures.
