Gaylord, MI – A wet and blustery fall day is unfolding across northern Michigan, with rain and gusty winds expected to persist through Sunday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) Gaylord.
Forecasters say wind gusts may reach 30 to 40 mph, with higher gusts possible along the Lake Michigan and Lake Huron shorelines. The heaviest rain is anticipated near the Lake Huron coast and northeast Lower Michigan, with localized downpours possible near Grand Traverse Bay.
Rain will gradually taper off from west to east this evening as cooler air filters into the region. Overnight lows will dip into the upper 30s to mid-40s, with partly sunny but breezy conditions returning Monday and Tuesday.
The NWS also noted that fallen leaves could clog storm drains, potentially causing minor urban drainage issues during periods of heavier rainfall. Residents are encouraged to secure loose outdoor items and clear gutters where possible.
