Gatlinburg, TN – A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect for portions of East Tennessee, including the Smoky Mountains, through 7 a.m. Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service in Morristown.

The warning covers Blount, Cocke, Sevier, Southeast Greene, and Unicoi Counties, where forecasters expect an additional 3 to 6 inches of snow in higher elevations and 1 to 3 inches elsewhere. Wind gusts may reach up to 40 mph overnight, creating areas of blowing snow and reduced visibility.

According to the National Weather Service, the storm will continue to impact travel across the Smokies, particularly in Gatlinburg, Erwin, Cades Cove, and surrounding mountain routes. Slippery roads and reduced traction are likely during both the Monday evening and Tuesday morning commutes.

Residents and travelers are advised to use extreme caution, keep emergency supplies in their vehicles, and check 511 for the latest road conditions. The snow is expected to taper off early Tuesday as temperatures gradually moderate.
