Gary, IN – A 69-year-old Gary man was identified following a fatal crash on the I-65 ramp near Melton Road early Tuesday. Lake County Coroner’s Office confirmed Charles Williams as the deceased in the single-vehicle accident.
According to the coroner’s office, emergency responders were dispatched to Northlake Methodist Hospital at 1:59 a.m. on Tuesday, where Williams was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. The incident, which resulted in Williams sustaining multiple blunt force injuries, occurred on the I-65 ramp leading to Melton Road.
An autopsy conducted Tuesday confirmed the cause of death as multiple blunt force trauma injuries. Williams, a resident of the 5900 block of Juniper Avenue in Gary, was positively identified at the hospital by family members. Officials have not yet released further details on the cause or factors that may have contributed to the accident.
