Gary, IN – A 27-year-old man was found dead in Gary, IN, early Wednesday morning. The Lake County Coroner and Medicolegal Death Investigation Team were dispatched to 2256 Connecticut St. at 9:29 a.m. According to the Lake County Coroner’s Office, the victim, identified as Jesus Campos, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Campos, who resided in the 400 block of Porter Street, Gary, was identified by his family on site. The cause of death is pending an autopsy, which is scheduled to be performed at the Lake County Morgue in Crown Point on Thursday, August 8. Preliminary reports indicate that Campos sustained multiple gunshot wounds, and his death has been classified as a homicide.
The investigation is being conducted by the Gary Police Department, the Lake County Prosecutor Homicide Unit, and the Lake County CSI. Authorities are urging anyone with information regarding the incident to come forward.
