Wheaton, Ill. — The City of Wheaton informed residents on June 16 that the DuPage County Division of Transportation will begin resurfacing work on Gary Avenue. The work will be done between Jewell Road and North Avenue beginning June 16 until the end of August.

Gary Avenue will remain open during the project, with daily lane closures used for traffic control. Minimal delays are expected, but drivers should use caution in these areas. Work is expected to be finished before the new school year begins.

The location is one of four areas in the 2025 Pavement Maintenance Project in the North Region. Other locations include Wood Dale Road from US 20 to IL Route 19, Eola Road from New York Street to I-88 and Glen Ellyn Road from IL Route 64 to Fullerton Avenue. The project is part of a yearly effort to resurface roadways and improve driving quality. Pavement maintenance projects include curb and sidewalk repairs, drainage repairs, pavement resurfacing and new pavement markings.

The Gary Avenue repaving will work adjacent to the Gary Avenue Improvement Project. Pavement work will be north of Jewell Road, while the Gary Avenue Improvement Project will continue south of Jewell Road until Prairie Avenue.
