Dodge City, Kansas — A prolonged stretch of dry and quiet weather is expected to continue across southwest Kansas into the New Year, with no rain or snow forecast for at least the next week.

According to the National Weather Service in Dodge City, a stable weather pattern will remain in place for 7 to 10 days, resulting in zero chance of precipitation through at least January 7. Forecast models continue to show dry conditions possibly extending into January 9.

Roadways across the region, including US-50, US-56, US-83, and US-400, are expected to remain free of weather-related hazards, with no snow, ice, or heavy rain anticipated. Travel conditions should remain favorable throughout the holiday period.

While the region has experienced a notably dry December, the National Weather Service notes that no drought conditions are currently present, as subsoil moisture levels remain adequate. However, topsoil moisture is gradually decreasing due to the lack of recent precipitation.

Temperatures are expected to remain seasonable for early January, with no significant cold snaps or storm systems indicated in the extended forecast. The dry stretch may benefit travel and outdoor activities but could begin to impact agricultural conditions if it persists further into the month.

The National Weather Service advises residents to remain aware of ongoing forecast updates but notes that no weather-related disruptions are expected in the near term.
