Galveston, TX – A flood watch remains in effect today for Galveston and surrounding coastal counties as heavy rainfall and elevated tides continue to threaten urban areas. Residents are urged to monitor local updates as excessive runoff could cause flooding in creeks, rivers, and low-lying streets. The National Weather Service has warned that the watch may be extended if conditions persist.

According to the National Weather Service, a cold front is expected to clear out the rain by the weekend, but hazardous marine conditions will remain through Saturday. A small craft advisory has been issued with northeast winds of 20 to 25 knots and gusts up to 30 knots, making rough waters dangerous for smaller vessels. High rip current risk is also in effect, with swimmers advised to stay near lifeguards and avoid jetties.

The 7-day outlook forecasts more rain returning early next week, starting as isolated showers before intensifying. Temperatures are expected to drop slightly, offering some relief from the heat as the region heads into the weekend. Stay informed and take precautions to stay safe on the roads and waterways.
