Indianapolis, IN – Indiana’s spring chill returns midweek, with a Frost Advisory in effect until 9 a.m. EDT Wednesday, threatening plants and stalling the season’s warming trend.
According to the National Weather Service in Indianapolis, temperatures may drop to 29°F overnight into early Wednesday, especially in low-lying and rural areas along the I-65 and I-69 corridors. Residents in central, east central, and west central Indiana should cover or bring in tender plants tonight to prevent frost damage.
Cities under the advisory include Indianapolis, Lafayette, Terre Haute, Muncie, and Bloomington, as well as surrounding counties such as Boone, Hendricks, and Madison. Clear skies and light winds Tuesday night will allow surface temperatures to plunge before dawn, marking a temporary but sharp return to near-winter lows.
Wednesday will rebound to 60°F with full sun, but the frost risk won’t completely fade until mid-morning. Following that, temperatures climb gradually through the week with highs in the 60s by Thursday and pushing 70°F by Friday, but showers are expected to return heading into Easter weekend.
