Wakefield, VA – A frost advisory has been issued for central and eastern Virginia, along with portions of northeast North Carolina, as temperatures are expected to drop overnight. The National Weather Service in Wakefield announced the advisory, effective from 1 a.m. to 8 a.m. Wednesday.
The frost threat is anticipated to impact sensitive vegetation, with temperatures forecasted to reach between 32 and 36 degrees. According to the Weather Service, areas in Mecklenburg, Richmond, Isle of Wight, and James City counties, among others, may see frost formation.
Frost could potentially damage or kill unprotected outdoor plants. Officials encourage residents to protect tender vegetation by covering or moving plants indoors. Simple precautions can help minimize frost damage during the advisory period.
Residents in affected areas are urged to monitor the forecast and plan accordingly to safeguard sensitive plants. The Weather Service warns that leaving plants uncovered in the cold could result in harm or loss.
