Binghamton, NY – Residents across Central New York and Northeast Pennsylvania should brace for a cold snap tonight, with widespread frost expected as temperatures tumble into the 30s.

According to the National Weather Service in Binghamton, a Frost Advisory is in effect late Monday night through early Tuesday morning. Overnight lows will dip as low as 32°F in higher terrain and rural valleys, particularly across the Southern Tier, Finger Lakes, and northeastern Pennsylvania.

Cities like Elmira, Cortland, and Montrose could see patchy frost, while colder spots near Norwich, Hamilton, and Towanda may experience a hard freeze. Gardeners are urged to cover plants or bring them indoors. Morning commuters should be prepared for reduced visibility in low-lying fog-prone areas.

Although Tuesday will be mostly sunny with highs rebounding into the upper 50s and 60s, a major shift begins Wednesday. A slow-moving upper-level low will usher in several days of rain, starting with heavy showers Wednesday and Thursday. Cooler highs in the 40s and 50s are expected midweek, with persistent showers likely through Saturday.

Another update will follow Tuesday as frost advisories expire and the rainy pattern sets in for the latter half of the week.
