Charleston, WV – Western West Virginia is set to experience widespread frost and freezing temperatures beginning Wednesday morning. Counties such as Cabell, Mason, and Wayne could see overnight lows near freezing, with frost lasting through Friday morning.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), the coldest air of the season will move into the region, especially affecting valleys and low-lying areas. Residents are advised to cover sensitive plants and ensure outdoor pets are protected from the cold.

The NWS warns that frost conditions could become more widespread as the week progresses. Freezing temperatures are expected each morning, with potential frost advisories in place through Friday. Spotter activation is not expected at this time.
