Dodge City, KS – Clear skies and calm winds will set the stage for frost development across southwest and west-central Kansas tonight, as the National Weather Service in Dodge City issues a Frost Advisory from midnight (11 p.m. MDT) through 10 a.m. Sunday.
The advisory includes Trego, Scott, Lane, Hamilton, Kearny, Finney, Stanton, Grant, Haskell, Morton, Stevens, and Seward counties, covering communities such as Garden City, Liberal, Scott City, Ulysses, and Hugoton.
Forecasters expect overnight lows around 33°F, with frost forming by early Sunday morning. These conditions could harm or kill sensitive outdoor vegetation if left uncovered. Residents are urged to cover plants, bring potted flowers indoors, and protect gardens before temperatures drop.
This will likely be one of the coldest mornings so far this fall for the region, signaling the end of the growing season for many outdoor plants. Temperatures will rebound into the upper 50s and 60s Sunday afternoon.
