Hastings, NE – A chilly night is ahead for residents across central Nebraska and north-central Kansas, where the National Weather Service in Hastings has issued a Frost Advisory effective from 10 p.m. Saturday through 11 a.m. Sunday.
The advisory covers 15 counties, including Hall, Adams, Hamilton, York, Kearney, Clay, Franklin, and Webster in Nebraska, and Phillips, Smith, and Rooks counties in Kansas. Cities affected include Grand Island, Hastings, York, Minden, and Phillipsburg.
Forecasters expect overnight lows near 32°F, cold enough to produce widespread frost that may harm or kill sensitive vegetation if left unprotected. Residents are encouraged to cover outdoor plants, bring potted flowers inside, and protect gardens and crops before temperatures drop.
While the frost won’t be as severe as the freeze warnings in western Nebraska, it still signals the arrival of season-ending cold for much of the central Plains. Temperatures are expected to rebound Sunday afternoon with plenty of sunshine.
