Amarillo, TX – A chilly Sunday morning is on the way for parts of the Texas and Oklahoma Panhandles, where the National Weather Service in Amarillo has issued a Frost Advisory from 3 a.m. to 9 a.m. CDT Sunday.
The advisory covers Cimarron and Texas counties in Oklahoma, along with Dallam, Sherman, Hansford, Hartley, and Moore counties in Texas, including cities such as Guymon, Dumas, Dalhart, and Stratford.
Forecasters expect low temperatures around 34°F, cold enough to produce patchy frost that may harm or kill sensitive vegetation. Residents are encouraged to cover outdoor plants, bring in potted flowers, and protect gardens and crops before temperatures drop early Sunday.
While not a hard freeze, this will be one of the coldest mornings of the season so far across the northern Panhandles, signaling a shift toward more typical late-October weather. Sunshine and warmer afternoon highs are expected to follow.
