Portland, OR – A frost advisory has been issued for central and southern Oregon, including the Portland metro area, beginning at midnight tonight and lasting until 9 AM Friday, April 4. The National Weather Service has warned that temperatures will drop to between 33 and 36 degrees, causing frost formation that could damage sensitive outdoor vegetation.

The advisory affects areas such as the Tualatin Valley, the outer southeast Portland metro, and parts of the Willamette Valley, including Eugene, Corvallis, and Salem. This could also impact communities in the Upper Hood River Valley and North Clark County Lowlands.

According to the National Weather Service, frost could harm outdoor plants that are not properly protected. Sensitive plants left uncovered may be killed by the cold temperatures. Experts suggest moving potted plants indoors or covering them with lightweight fabrics like bedsheets or thin blankets to safeguard them against the overnight chill.

This cold snap serves as a reminder to gardeners and homeowners to take precautions to protect plants, as such frosts are not uncommon in early spring.
