Memphis, TN – A Frost Advisory has been issued for northeast Arkansas, the Missouri Bootheel, and parts of West Tennessee, with cold temperatures expected early Tuesday morning.
According to the National Weather Service in Memphis, the advisory will remain in effect from 3 a.m. to 9 a.m. Tuesday, April 9, as temperatures drop between 33°F and 36°F. These conditions could lead to frost formation, posing risks to unprotected plants and outdoor animals.
Cities affected include Memphis, Jackson, Union City, Bolivar, and Blytheville, as well as Jonesboro and Corning in Arkansas. Residents in the advisory zone are urged to take immediate precautions to protect sensitive vegetation and bring pets indoors.
The frost risk comes during a time when spring planting often begins, making agricultural and home gardens particularly vulnerable. Frost may damage or kill newly planted crops or blooming flowers not sheltered from the cold.
Officials recommend covering plants overnight and moving potted plants indoors where possible. Frost advisories are common in early April but can still cause unexpected damage, especially following warm weekends.
