Omaha, NE – A frost advisory has been issued for parts of southwest and west-central Iowa, as well as east-central, northeast, and southeast Nebraska. The advisory, issued by the National Weather Service, will be in effect from 1 AM to 9 AM CDT on Monday, October 14, 2024.

According to the National Weather Service, temperatures may drop as low as 31 degrees overnight, leading to frost formation. Sensitive outdoor vegetation could be damaged if left unprotected. Residents in areas including Monona, Pottawattamie, Knox, and Lancaster counties are urged to take precautions.

The advisory affects cities like Council Bluffs, Omaha, Lincoln, and Fremont. With temperatures expected to dip into the low 30s, those with sensitive plants should cover them or move them indoors before temperatures drop. Frost is expected to be widespread throughout the region, with colder conditions in low-lying areas.

Residents are encouraged to monitor local weather updates and prepare for the sudden cold snap. Take necessary steps to protect vulnerable outdoor vegetation from potential frost damage.
