Colorado Springs, CO – The National Weather Service in Pueblo has issued a Frost Advisory for northern El Paso County, warning of subfreezing temperatures early Friday morning that could damage sensitive vegetation.
According to the NWS, temperatures may fall as low as 27°F between 3 a.m. and 9 a.m. MDT Friday, leading to widespread frost formation across the Monument Ridge and Rampart Range areas below 7,500 feet, including Black Forest.
The advisory urges residents to protect tender outdoor plants and cover vegetation that may be vulnerable to frost damage. “Frost could harm sensitive outdoor vegetation. Sensitive outdoor plants may be killed if left uncovered,” the agency cautioned.
Forecasters say the cold spell will be brief, but residents should also prepare for additional chilly mornings over the weekend, as clear skies and light winds allow temperatures to dip near freezing again in higher terrain north of Colorado Springs.
Gardeners and homeowners are encouraged to bring potted plants indoors, cover garden beds, and disconnect hoses to avoid overnight damage.
