Denver, Colorado – A sharp overnight chill is settling across the Front Range as the season’s coldest air so far sweeps into northern and central Colorado. The National Weather Service in Denver/Boulder has issued a Freeze Warning in effect until 8 a.m. Tuesday for much of the Denver metro area and surrounding foothill communities.

According to forecasters, temperatures will drop into the upper 20s to lower 30s by sunrise, with the coldest readings expected from Fort Collins and Longmont southward to Castle Rock, Larkspur, and Byers. Light winds and clear skies will allow frost to form across lawns, fields, and rooftops.

The cold may damage late-season crops, gardens, and unprotected irrigation systems. The National Weather Service advises residents to bring potted plants indoors, cover sensitive vegetation, and wrap or drain exposed pipes and sprinkler lines. Drivers should allow extra time for frost removal on windshields before the morning commute.

According to Denver emergency management officials, the chill marks the area’s first widespread freeze of the fall, effectively ending the growing season across the urban corridor. Temperatures will rebound slightly by midweek before another surge of cooler air arrives late Thursday.
