Springfield, IL – Morning snow showers across eastern Illinois are expected to end by midmorning Monday, giving way to clearing skies but continued cold air, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) Central Illinois. Temperatures will remain chilly today, with highs only in the mid-30s to upper 30s and brisk winds making it feel even colder.

A gradual warmup begins Tuesday as milder air moves in from the west. Forecasters expect highs to reach the mid-40s to low 50s Tuesday, climbing into the 50s and 60s by midweek, and possibly reaching near 70 degrees by Friday. The NWS notes that this sharp temperature turnaround marks a dramatic shift from early-week winter conditions to late-week spring-like warmth.

Monday’s brief snow will mainly affect areas east of I-55, with minor accumulations possible before the system exits the region.

Residents can look forward to a stretch of mostly sunny and dry weather from Wednesday through Friday as the warmer pattern settles in—ideal for travel and outdoor plans heading into the weekend.
