Hastings, NE – A quick taste of winter will be followed by an abrupt warm-up across central Nebraska, according to the National Weather Service in Hastings.
Forecasters say a few light snow flurries or minor accumulations are possible tonight, especially for areas north and east of the Tri-Cities. Most locations will stay dry, but any snow that does fall is expected to be light and short-lived. Overnight lows will dip into the mid-20s to lower 30s, with temperatures near or below freezing by morning.
By Thursday, a strong warm-up arrives as southerly winds usher in milder air. Highs will surge into the mid-50s to lower 70s, depending on location — a dramatic shift from tonight’s cold start. The warmest temperatures will favor the southern and western parts of the forecast area.
Friday will bring cooler conditions, with highs in the upper 30s to mid-40s, before another light snow chance (15–20%) develops across northern Nebraska early Saturday. Any snow from that system is expected to be minimal, and dry weather will dominate the remainder of the weekend.
By Sunday, temperatures will dip again, with highs in the upper 20s to upper 30s and lows in the teens. Despite the ups and downs, the region’s weather pattern remains largely dry through early next week.
Residents should stay alert for brief slick spots overnight where flurries occur, but overall travel impacts are expected to be minor.
